Daarmee is de kans dat de liesbreuk terugkomt namelijk aanzienlijk kleiner. Sommige pati\u00ebnten willen, om uiteenlopende redenen, absoluut geen matje. Het is te adviseren deze mogelijkheid met uw chirurg te bespreken en samen de afweging te maken om de liesbreuk met of zonder matje te opereren. De specialist bepaalt dan of u in aanmerking komt voor de Shouldice-operatie (liesbreukherstel zonder mat). In plaats van een matje wordt er bij deze behandeling gebruikgemaakt van uw eigen weefsel.
