Drs. X.L. (Xenia) Stalpers studeerde geneeskunde aan de Radboud Universiteit te Nijmegen. Tevens is zij afgestudeerd in de Gezondheidswetenschappen met afstudeerrichting Biologische Gezondheidskunde aan de Universiteit van Maastricht. Haar specialisatie tot neuroloog deed zij voor het merendeel in het Canisius Wilhelmina ziekenhuis te Nijmegen, maar ook in het UMC te Utrecht, het Elisabeth ziekenhuis te Tilburg, het Antonius ziekenhuis te Nieuwegein en Kempenhaeghe Centrum voor Slaapgeneeskunde te Heeze.

Mevrouw Stalpers: “Het mooie aan de neurologie vind ik dat je door simpele testjes, door bijvoorbeeld goed te kijken naar het lopen, de spieren, hoe iemand zich beweegt, je kunt vaststellen waar in het zenuwstelsel het probleem zit. Soms heb je al bij het ophalen vanuit de wachtkamer, nog voordat iemand iets heeft verteld, een idee wat het probleem kan zijn. Daarnaast is het een vak waarin je een grote diversiteit aan problematiek ziet. Je ziet jonge en oude mensen, je hebt korte maar ook langdurige contacten, je ziet acute maar ook chronische aandoeningen. Mijn streven is om mijn patiënten zo te behandelen, zoals ik ook zou willen dat mijn familie zou worden behandeld.”

Vanaf 20 oktober 2014 is mevrouw Stalpers werkzaam als neuroloog in Máxima MC.
